Personal Statement

I have always been in love with storytelling. I am an actor because I believe in the emotional power of a good story. A Story that could make someone laugh, cry, or just sit with a feeling they didn’t expect. Acting is my way of connecting with others, of reaching out to understand the world and all of the little things in between. Growing up as the youngest in a chaotic, but accomplished family, I found my place by being the dramatic one. Though I gained the attention my older siblings did, my love for performance became purposeful. Making people feel something became my strength. I realized early on that through performance, I could bring clarity to confusion, joy to heavy moments, and depth to what might otherwise be missed. I became the storyteller, the entertainer, the emotional translator. What draws me to acting now is still that same sense of connection. When people watch, they learn about others, about themselves, about the world. Watching someone struggle, succeed, or simply exist on screen can inspire empathy, challenge assumptions, or just make you feel seen. And that is a kind of magic I want to produce. While in college, I began more professional on-camera work. I starred in a student film, wrote and directed a short film of my own, and am currently working with a couple of peers on a sketch comedy series. Working through each project, I start by asking myself a few questions: What do I want the audience to feel? How will my character cater to this feeling? What can I bring to the character that will allow the storytelling to flourish? These questions not only help me to step into the story and to understand my role, but they also serve as a reminder of why I act. I act because I love it. I love the craft, the work, the realizations, and the thrill of the moment. I act because I believe that stories can change the way we see each other. I want to be part of that change. Eventually, I want to direct. I want to shape the stories that reach people, that linger in their minds, and that ask them to think a little differently when the credits roll. Whether I'm in front of the camera or behind it, I’m here to tell stories that move people, challenge them, and, above all, connect us.
